Have you ever felt the presence of the Lord drawing you in? Him tangibly inviting you into a space where his presence is like someone stretching out their hand for you to take?

I walked through the open living space where my fellow leaders had a speaker playing with some of their favorite worship music, and I felt a pull to sit down and worship. At first I was busy getting my stuff together and trying to get to bed. We had been at a worship night/vigil the previous night until 2am and got home at 5am. I was exhausted and wanted to crawl right into bed, but there was a pull in my spirit to sit down in the presence of the Lord.

Soon I found myself singing along with a song while in the kitchen, then I decided to move over to the living room  couch, and then I felt the peace of God settle on me. I could feel God’s presence in the room. If you’ve ever experienced that before, you know what I’m talking about. The awe, the peace, the knowledge that he’s there with you. It’s bigger than feeling God in me, hearing his voice, watching him work in and around me. It feels like there is a shift in the atmosphere.

While sitting in this space with the music playing, God was ministering to me. He was pouring out his love on me, reminding me that he loves me and pursues me. He was also reminding me that he simply wants to spend time with me. I don’t need to get myself together or come with an agenda. The Lord wants us to come to him so we can spend time together. And I’m very good at complicating that or getting so distracted that I don’t “have time” to just sit.

God can do so much with a few minutes of our time. Sure, hours with him are wonderful, but if all you have is 5 minutes, he’ll use it. Although, the more time I spend with God, the more time I wish I had. 5 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, isn’t enough anymore!

One of our ministry partners said something that stuck with me. He said we seek to meet with God in the secret place, but the secret place is a place of dissatisfaction. Now, hold on. That sounds wrong, right? But it’s dissatisfying in the sense that the time we spend with him is never enough! You begin to crave it, to do anything to find that time alone with the Creator. This has been a shift I’ve experienced in my walk with God over the last few years. I have even started getting up early every morning to make sure I have time with him before I start ministry. And that has changed so much for me!

Have you felt the presence of God in your life? If not, why not ask him about it and welcome him into your life. If you have felt it, is it a daily practice or something occasional? God wants us to get to know him. So like any relationship, you have to spend time together. He doesn’t force us, he lovingly invites us. When you feel that pull, that hand extended in invitation, take it. Find a quiet place and sit in silence, or play some soft worship music. Seek his presence and watch what happens.

(The album we were listening to is The Altar Sessions (Vol. 1) by Rick Pino. Go check it out!)

 Prayer Requests:

  • I am almost finished fundraising! Praise God! Thank you for your continued prayer and support.
  • N Squad is getting ready to leave our ministry hosts in Nicaragua and head to Costa Rica. We are doing team changes so pray that the squad buys in to their new teams, loves each other well, and gives their all in their next ministry.
  • April will be my last month on the field with this squad. Pray for me as I finish out this season of leadership, prepare to transition back to the States for a while, and seek God in what he has next for me. There are many unknowns coming up for me.
