Team M.O.M. is finally complete! Our last person, Alli, was able to join us on Wednesday so now we are a happy family of six! (We are enjoying the presence of Ari, one of our squad leaders, for a little while) We are settling into our routines and learning how to do life as a team.

Everyday we have time set aside to hang out as a team, and we take turns “hosting” team time. The day before my first turn I was at a loss for what to do as a team. My mind went to fun get-to-know-you things I’ve used in my classroom in the past, but those seemed too cheesy. So I shut my computer, quieted my mind, and gave space for the Lord to give me ideas. After a few minutes He reminded me of something I had done last year.

When I was preparing for my first launch I wrote down a Race bucket list of sorts. It was filled with things I wanted to do like see the Taj Mahal or learn to surf, and serious things like read my Bible more consistently and grow in my relationship with the Lord. It was a list of things I had been daydreaming about.

I love to daydream, but the logical side of my brain usually tells me it is a waste of time.  So when God gave me the idea to sit down and dream with him about what I wanted to do this year I was a little skeptical at first. I had other things to do with my time. But I chose to sit down and do it anyways, and oh how I loved it! Then, as I was praying about what to do with my team, God brought this to my mind again: to have us write down our hopes and dreams.

As team time approached I gathered pieces of paper and markers/pens and began to share with them what God had put on my heart. We spent time dreaming with the Lord, and then each of us wrote a list of things we were hoping for or dreaming of for this year on the Race. Then we took a few minutes to share them with each other.

Here are a few of the things from our lists:

  • Watch a sunrise and sunset in each country

  • See God move in new ways

  • Finish the journey

  • To be changed

  • Write worship songs

  • Better know the voice of God

  • Learn to surf

  • Touch an elephant

  • Memorize more of the Bible

  • Do what scares me

I’ll be honest, when I was sharing the activity with my team I was nervous that they wouldn’t like it or that they would think it was silly. But at the end of it everyone talked about continuing to spend more time with God to add more to their personal lists. We also hung our lists in our main living space so we can see each other’s hopes and dreams and help achieve them together.

Have you taken time to be still and dream with the Lord? What are some things you want to do or areas you’d like to grow in? Daydreaming with God is such a sweet thing. He has so much for us, and he knows us better than we know ourselves. I encourage you to get alone with God, remove distractions, and make a list of hopes and dreams you and God have for 2021 and beyond. Feel free to share some in the comments below!

  1. Alayna- Sincerely, I Love it !
A bucket list that waits on the HS’s still small voice and stills his own voice, to allow God Himself to create my own personalized bucket list!
He does know me better than i know myself, so why not ask him to open my eyes and ears to whatever he has for me. He’s the Blesser, Giver of all good things and not only does he know me better than I know me , but HE actually wants to USE me more than i want to be used myself!
One bucket list item for ya- To ride a motorcycle throuh china visiting all my Wechat freinds and make new ones along the way- for his Glory, kingdom and their Joy !
