For the past 5 years I had the opportunity to teach at a Christian school down in Florida. God blessed me with wonderful students and coworkers, and I learned a lot from them. A fond memory I have is with a coworker who was a PE coach. She was known for her goofy dance moves and sayings that she would teach the students. Some I still use because it’s just part of my life now, and others come to mind randomly and make me smile. There is one that comes to mind as I’m in this stage of preparing to leave for the Race. As she would get the kids ready for an activity she would shout, “What time is it?” And the students would all yell back, “Its go time!”

As the days until launch fly by, this saying becomes more accurate. It’s been a long waiting period as I’ve been counting down the days, but it seems like all of a sudden, it’s here. Launch is on Thursday… And I have a full range of emotions coursing through me. I’m nervous about the unknowns, and sad about having to say goodbye. There’s some stress as I get last minute things squared away while trying to enjoy the last snuggles with my niece and nephew. And I’m excited to be back with my squad and to set out to do what God has called us to.

The last few months have been a wonderful time of spiritual growth, learning to be present where God has me, and to listen to His leading in my daily life. My relationship with Him has changed and deepened since training camp, so I can only imagine what He has in store for this year. I know it will be filled with trials, successes, growth, and many memories that will last a lifetime. Yes, there are many sacrifices that have been made in order to go on the mission field. But I can say without a doubt that they are all worth it in order to step into God’s calling for my life. God doesn’t promise that it will be easy. I do know that in order to grow in my faith, I have to step out and trust that God has it all in His control.

I also want to take a moment and thank all of you for supporting me. Your prayers and financial support are making this all possible. Thank you for following God’s leading in your life and being faithful. Please continue to pray for my squad as we say our final goodbyes and take the long flights to our first country. Pray for us to be bold in our faith, to seek God’s will in everything, and that there would be unity on our teams. Pray for God to open hearts and minds in the countries we will serve in.

Now, the day is almost here. This is what we have been praying for and looking forward to. So, what time it? ITS GO TIME!
