It’s crazy to think that my squad has now been back in the States longer than we were out on the field. It has been a weird time for sure, but God has been present through it all. Instead of exploring Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan, I’m learning to find joy in the small town life in Minnesota.

The last few weeks have brought a bit more excitement in my life. Since stores are opening back up, I have been able to go back to work at the Spam Museum. I’ve enjoyed interacting with people again, as well as being able to have something to do during my days. I was also able to be home for two important birthday parties: my niece and nephew. There has been plenty of time spent with those two little nuggets!

My squad has been doing weekly Zoom calls to keep us connected. I miss them all terribly, but I enjoy the short time each week that I get to see their beautiful faces. A few weeks ago we had a discussion as a squad about our options moving forward. We are hoping to relaunch in October, but that all depends on how things are looking with Covid over the next few months. If October is a no-go, we will push back to January 2021. I don’t have a lot of answers or information yet, but we have relaunch options and that gives me hope!

This is definitely not what I imagined the last few months looking like, yet I know God is in control and none of this virus stuff surprised him. It has been a pruning, or refining, season for me since I’ve been home. I am currently working on another blog that goes into what He has been doing, so be on the lookout for that. Thank you for all of your prayers and support, especially since I’ve been home. Please continue to pray for my squad as we each make decisions about what is next, and as we wait on God’s perfect timing/plan.

  1. Thanks for sharing these words. That is cool that you work at the Spam Museum. I didn’t know that spam was made in Minnesota. What do you do there? I used to work at the Texas Tech Museum as a non commissioned security guard when the Vatican exhibit came through Lubbock, Texas. I also worked at a personnel agency as part of the event staff. I was an usher & ticket taker at Broadway shows, concerts, Lubbock had a semi pro ice hockey team where I was a ticket taker and a relief person giving breaks for the staff, parking attendant at Texas Tech basketball & football games & the fair on part time basis. These jobs were fun. God is always with you and will show you where the next steps will be.

  2. Miss you so much my dear friend. It absolutely has been a refining and pruning season for me here too. God is not surprised and I’m not surprised to see Him moving in so many ways in your life and in your heart while being home in this weird waiting period. It’s day by day, seeking Him and whatever He has for us. You encourage my faith! So stoked to see whatever is next. Love you. 🙂

  3. Yes and amen. So much refining and tuning. God is god through all of it! Love ya!
